The National Catholic Risk Retention Group Appoints President & CEO
LISLE, Illinois – (June 27, 2017) – The National Catholic Risk Retention Group, Inc. (“National Catholic”) is pleased to announce Dennis H. O’Hara, ARM has been selected as the company’s new President and Chief Executive Officer effective August 15. In addition, he will be appointed President of National Catholic’s two subsidiary companies, National Catholic Services, LLC (“NCS”) and NCS Risk Services, LLC. Mr. O’Hara will report to the Board of Directors of National Catholic as well as to the NCS Board of Governors
“We are excited about the appointment of Dennis O’Hara. He has had an accomplished insurance career and brings extensive experience working with both risk retention groups and the Catholic Church,” says Rev. Jay C. Haskin, Chairman of the National Catholic Board of Directors.

Mr. O’Hara succeeds Michael J. Bemi who will retire August 31st after almost 18 years in the role.
Mr. O’Hara has served Catholic dioceses, religious institutions and religious higher education for over fifteen years. Most recently he was Area Executive Vice President with Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. (“Gallagher”) in San Francisco. In this capacity, he worked with a number of Jesuit colleges and universities and several Catholic dioceses in the Western U.S. In addition, Mr. O’Hara was Underwriting Manager of The Ordinary Mutual, a Vermont-domiciled risk retention group serving 10 Catholic dioceses and was instrumental in the creation of Western Catholic Insurance Company, another Vermont-licensed risk retention group, which served five Catholic dioceses. For both The Ordinary Mutual and Western Catholic Insurance Company Mr. O’Hara was the Underwriting Manager coordinating day-to-day functions and facilitating the activities of their respective boards of directors.
After graduating from Santa Clara University, Mr. O’Hara joined Frank B. Hall & Co. in Los Angeles, CA as an insurance broker. In 1989, he joined Camden Insurance Brokers, a boutique insurance brokerage business, which merged with Gallagher in 1991. Mr. O’Hara was named Area President for Gallagher in Orange County, CA in 1997.
